New York, New York (August 4, 2005) - Designer and lifestyle enthusiast Libby Langdon has completed an agreement to join the cast of HGTV’s latest offering Small Space: Big Style as an expert designer for the show’s inaugural fall season. Langdon will be offering her insights to homeowners during the half-hour episodes of the BrainBox Productions, Inc. produced series.

The first episode of the series is scheduled to air on HGTV at 8:00 pm EST on Thursday, August 4th.

Small Space: Big Style
, takes a cross-country tour to discover just how much style can fit into homes under 1,000 square feet. The show introduces the viewing audience to the homeowner and their design concept. Professionals will provide their commentary and advise on tackling unique design challenges.

“It is important to remember that dimensions only define the size of a space but not the style” said Langdon. “Even the tiniest apartments can have a spacious feel if you utilize special design secrets.”

Langdon’s design expertise and creative insight will help viewers learn about those special design secrets as she offers her advice on how to easily make the most of a small space.

“You can find inspiration and ideas everywhere” said Langdon. “There are no rules!  Don’t be afraid to combine styles.”

A few of Langdon’s small space design tips include:
- Eliminate knick-knacks and clutter; it’s hard to do but absolutely necessary!
- Use mirrors! Reflective surfaces extend space and make a room feel more open and you can magnify a mirror’s impact by putting it in a position where it can reflect a window or doorway, the space will feel larger and you’ll be adding natural light!
- Stripes on a wall make a tall statement in a small space; they draw your eye upwards giving the illusion of height which is so valuable when ceilings are low
- Display collections on walls; go up instead of using precious shelf space
- Casters are great to put on desks, chair, ottomans and even kitchen islands; they allow you to keep furniture mobile and easily accessible if it serves more than one purpose in your home.
- Curves are a better choice than angles in tight spaces, the softer shape is a visual contrast in a boxy room; think round tables, chairs and tubs!
