'DESIGN INVASION' HOST LIBBY LANGDON
INSPIRES NEXT GENERATION OF DESIGNERS AT
ART INSITUTE OF WASHINGTON
February 4, 2005
WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 4, 2005) - During an episode of the popular new
home improvement show, “Design Invasion”, host Libby Langdon delivers
a complete room renovation in just one day’s time. But today, Langdon
played the role of educator to a class of 40 interior design students at the
Art Institute of Washington.
During the two-hour class, Langdon shared some of her professional experiences
and encouraged the students to create their own opportunities. She stressed that
success in the industry is dependent upon what each student is willing to put
into his or her career.
“For me, the thrill of being an interior designer is in working with real
people. In addition to my clients, I collaborate with talented and skilled people
ranging from contractors and architects, to furniture manufacturers and artisans,” Langdon
told the class. “And I’ve learned that as an interior designer, you
have to create your own opportunity. Don’t wait for someone to knock at
your door, jump in and work. Find a neighborhood deli or a local restaurant that
lacks panache and give it a make-over.”
Langdon has recently received critical acclaim for her sense of style at La Masseria,
a restaurant she designed in midtown Manhattan. Displaying the storyboards for
La Masseria, she illustrated the evolution of the restaurant from drawings of
her design concept to photographs throughout construction and finally a showcase
of the restaurant in its completed state.
“It’s important to witness the line of progression from seed to reveal,” Langdon
continued. “There is value in seeing the journey of your work. I enjoy
waking up each day motivated to grow my concepts into finished products.”
Libby Langdon, host of the popular TV show, “Design Invasion,” observes
a philosophy that draws upon her own inspiration – wonderful times with
friends and family, rich flavors and delicious food, and the comfort of a warm,
inviting atmosphere – to enhance the entertaining and design lifestyle
for everyone. For additional information, please visit www.libbylangdon.com or
