LIBBY LANGDON AND SUSAN G. KOMEN FOUNDATION
TEAM

cancer research.
NEW YORK (February 1, 2005) – For the month of February 2005, lifestyle
maven Libby Langdon and La Masseria Ristorante in midtown Manhattan are teaming
up with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation with a special purpose.
Each time restaurant patrons order ‘Beignets to Benefit,’ the Langdon-designed
dessert item, 30 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Greater New
York City Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
“ I know that one day scientists will find a cure for breast cancer, stopping
it from ever impacting another human life,” said Langdon, who is also the
interior designer for La Masseria. “Until that day is here, it is critical
to assist organizations like the Komen Foundation in the quest to end the disease.
I’m really pleased to be working with my friends at La Masseria and we
all hope the combination of the beignets and the sweet tooth of dining guests
will provide a tasteful and meaningful contribution to the legacy of Susan G.
Komen.”
“
We are thrilled to be a partner on this promotion,” said Nicole Rubin,
Executive Director of Komen Greater New York City. “Our Affiliate appreciates
the efforts made by Libby and La Masseria to raise money for our organization.”
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 to eradicate
breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education,
screening and treatment. Komen is a global leader and the largest private source
of funding in the fight against breast cancer. The Greater New York City Affiliate
of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was formed in 1990 and serves
the five boroughs of NYC (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island),
Long Island and Rockland and Westchester counties. Up to 75 percent of the Affiliate’s
net proceeds are dedicated to fighting breast cancer by funding innovative grassroots
programs in underserved local communities. At least 25 percent of the Affiliate’s
net proceeds fund national breast cancer research. Through its local fundraising
efforts, including its signature event, Race for the Cure®, Komen Greater
New York City will award over $2.2 million to grantees this year. To learn more

“In one fashion or another, breast cancer touches the life of each and
every one of us, which is why it is so important for us all to make use of our
resources and talents in order to put an end to it,” Langdon concluded.
