TV’s newest lifestyle maven showcases her skills for “The
View”
November 22, 2004
WASHINGTON (November 22, 2004) -- Many are surprised to learn Libby Langdon,
the graceful fashion model, soap opera vixen and Hollywood actress - with dozens
of TV appearances and films to her credit - is more handy than most men with
a level, paint brush and nail gun.
The latest finished product of her tool dexterity will be featured Tuesday,
Nov. 23rd during a segment on ABC’s The View. The home of one Philadelphia family,
the Pierandozzis, winners of an on-air contest, will undergo a design invasion. “The
Reveal,” as Landgon says, will show the exciting moment when they see
their brand new, rustic Tuscan kitchen.
“
It was a full gut: new wide-plank wood floors, golden oak cabinets against warm,
russett walls mixed with creamy, marble countertop tile, soft recessed lighting
and a peninsula bar with custom molding. The room is tricked out with all-new
black appliances with everything from under cabinet television/DVD player, Italian
earthenware platters and dual-temperature wine cooler,” Langdon said this
week above the staccato hum of her assisting crew’s power tools.
The High Point, North Carolina native is a host of the new home makeover program,
Design Invasion, that airs daily on the FOX network. On that program, Langdon
arrives early on the doorstep of an unsuspecting homeowner. After ushering
them out, she completely overhauls and transforms the dwelling’s most
unappealing room within 10 hours.
Langdon shares her niche of converting chilly, minuscule rooms making them
appear warm and palatial with do-it-yourself skills and modest budgets. “Due to
the time constraints of television taping, I’m somewhat limited to using
in-stock materials found in any neighborhood home improvement story like Lowe’s,
Target, Home Deport and Pier 1,” she said. “There’s simply
not enough time for special order items.
I want to show people how to create a warm, inviting comfortable space with
ideas and tools that are within everyone’s reach.”
The daughter of a home-furnishing executive and an interior designer mother,
Langdon trekked to New York at age 15 to model and later attend the Fashion
Institute of Technology. Her career blossomed leading to several lucrative
modeling assignments,
TV commercials and a recurring role on NBC’s soap opera Another World.
That work led to regular guest appearances on The Practice and Law and Order
SVU and numerous big-screen movies most recently The Door in the Floor, starring
Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger; opposite Al Pacino in Chinese Coffee; Sidewalks
of New York with Ed Burns and Shallow Hal with Gwyneth Paltrow.
Besides the acting, modeling and interior design, Langdon boasts gourmet cooking
and event planning skills as well. “I relish new challenges, I’m
not afraid to try new things,” she said. “If anything, I love what
I’m doing now, I get to be myself on TV and share in the excitement of
the individuals and families I touch. It’s a blast!”
